Father Tekle began attending the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church in June 1992 and received the Sacrament of Baptism on November 15, 1992.
In January 1993, he was asked by Father Haile Mariam to serve as Deacon (Anagnost), Father Tekle received the Sacrament of Holy Orders and was ordained a Deacon by His Eminence, Abune Mathias in February 1996. In November 2006, he was elevated to the rank of Archdeacon by his Eminence.
On May 24, 2009, Father Tekle was ordained to the Holy Priesthood by His Eminence, Abune Mathias. In June 2013, Father Tekle received the title Melake Mihret (Messenger of Mercy) by His Eminence.
